The Scene

Abstract image of an umbrella

Founded in 1998, Atlanta Group is one of the UK and Irelands largest insurance brokers. With a portfolio of well-known brands they were committed to delivering digital-first experiences to meet evolving customer expectations. This was challenging due to a large digital estate built through rapid brand acquisition, and the technology team inheriting a lot of legacy solutions and technical debt. Their ongoing focus on digital transformation led to the strategic initiative to consolidate and modernise migrating across to Progress Sitefinity as their Experience platform of choice. In June 2024 the merger of Atlanta with MarkerStudy was complete, creating a personal lines platform delivering innovative solutions and services for over 8 million customers.

The story

Atlanta Group initially approached Appius to design and deliver a new website for one of its flagship brands, Carole Nash. The project served as a pilot to create a best in class user experience optimised for conversion, and proof of concept for a wider digital migration strategy. Following its successful launch, Appius became a trusted partner—working in close collaboration with Atlanta’s in-house development, marketing, and IT teams.

From there, the relationship evolved into a long-term framework agreement, supporting the group’s ongoing CMS migration and digital development goals. Appius effectively operates as an extension of the internal team, delivering both strategic consultancy and hands-on implementation.

Following the merger with MarkerStudy Appius have delivered platform specific consultancy to support the marketing technology decision making and a continued relationship alongside the in-house team.

The technical transformation

To meet the demands of a growing brand portfolio, Appius led the development of a shared component library within the Sitefinity CMS. This approach ensured consistency, scalability, and cost-efficiency, allowing each brand site to maintain a unique identity while operating on a unified, manageable code base.
As Sitefinity’s only UK Premium Partner, Appius provided deep platform expertise, including:

  • CMS architecture consulting
  • Ad-hoc training and upskilling for the internal team
  • Solutions architecture support to define and refine requirements

Additionally, we helped define separate deployment pipelines for marketing-focused sites, giving those teams more agility and faster delivery cycles—without compromising on governance or development standards.

Following the merger Appius have delivered consultancy to evaluate the Atlanta and MarkerStudy estates and how to approach future development.
