Database Design

It's a rare occasion when we build a website without a database now-a-days. Whether the database is being used to serve content managed news articles or to capture those valuable contact details from form submissions, database design is a bread and butter skill for a web developer.

At the heart of this are skills like data modelling and function modelling. One focuses on what data should be stored in the database, while the other focuses how the data is processed and on how to design the queries that will access and perform operations on those database tables. The effort devoted to this is proportional to the scope of the database.
